8.09 Coco Vandeweghe twirls her right arm in delight as she runs into the net and delivers a passing shot to bring up four match points. Kateryna Bondarenko can't return a heavy serve from the American and that's it - 6-2, 7-6(3). Says Vandeweghe: "It was kind of last minute to get thrown out on Centre and you're not mentally prepared to play but I did a lot better job than last year on Centre. There's a different sound, and seeing the lights, but its my first time out there [under the roof] and it's about feeling your feet and moving as best as you can."

7.54pm: Tie break. Cries of 'Come on Coco' fill the Centre Court but Bondarenko stands firm. Vandeweghe moves safely and surely into a 6-3 lead and serves out to lead 2-0.

7.31pm Vandeweghe looks to be feeling under a little bit of pressure on her serve in the second set. Bondarenko moves into 4-3 lead. Interestingly, the Wimbledon social media machine asked punters if they reckoned Vandeweghe would win...

7.17pm: Vandeweghe runs in a clean winner to wrap up the first set against Kateryna Bondarenko 6-2.

7.03pm Vandeweghe flies into a 4-1 first set lead.

6.48pm: Last match of the day sees American Coco Vandeweghe against Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko. The girls have been moved to the Centre Court because it's the only match yet to begin where the winner's opponent - Hungary's Timea Babos - is already through to the second round.

6.23pm: But no. Kuznetsova - three times a quarter-finalist - cleans things up with an impressive service game to reach the second round 7-5, 6-4.

6.10pm: Blimey! Wozniacki must have wish she'd woken up earlier as she cleans up on her own serve to trail 5-4.

6.15pm: Kuznetsova serves for the match at 5-2...but Wozniaki manages to keep her hopes alive by breaking her opponent to love.

6.03pm: Svetlana Kuznetsova's takes first set 7-5 against Caroline Wozniacki and is 4-1 up in the second. Wozniacki cannot reach her opponent's fiercesome forehand. The Dane, now ranked as the world No 45, must dig deep.

5.40pm: British No 2 Heather Watson discovers her match with Germany's Annika Beck, scheduled for Court No 2, is off. Meanwhile, Wozniacki and Kuznetsova are locked in at 4-4.

5.17pm: Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova register a break each. Wozniacki 3-2 up in first set.

5.11pm: Andy Murray delivers his verdict on his first round triumph over Liam Broady. "It's not that easy playing someone you know - we practice together a bit," he said. "We're both just trying to win but it doesn't make it any easier. You just want to go out and play a good match. Liam fought right the way through to the end and played some good stuff. He got a nice ovation - I'm sure he will have enjoyed that."

4.52pm: The Centre Court isn't affected by the weather, of course, and Caroline Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova are warming up.  Wozniacki leads the head-to-head 6-5.

4.46pm: Play suspended - but not before Londoner Tara Moore completed an excellent 6-3, 6-2 win over Alison van Uytvanck for her first-ever Wimbledon win. Jo Konta is a set up and 2-1 ahead in the second set against Monica Puig. The forecast is for light and intermittent rain for the next two hours or so.

4.35pm: Here comes the rain. The roof on Centre Court is being closed and the covers are coming on.

4.29pm: Job done! Andy Murray is in the second round following his 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Liam Broady, which lasted just 102 minutes. Just the warm-up the top Scot wanted. Happily, Murray has never been beaten in the first round of Wimbledon.

3.46pm: First game of the third set to Murray as he looks physically superior over 22-year-old Broady.

3.40pm: Broady is getting into a rhythm now as he makes it 5-3 but Murray's serve again holds strong as he takes the second set.

3.34:pm: But Murray's dominant serve shines as he goes 5-2 up.

3.30pm: Broady fights back to make it 4-2. He is not letting Murray have it all his own way.

3.26pm: Murray's power is causing Broady all sorts of problems as he now goes 4-1 lead.

3.18pm: 1-1 in the second set but Murray races through to win the next game.

3.09pm: And after 25 minutes Murray wins the first set as he powers past Broady with some ferocious shots.

3.05pm: Broady get's back to 4-2 but Murray increases his lead as he takes the seventh game.

2.57pm: Better from Broady who battles well to hold his serve and get on the board. But Murray looking far too strong as again he holds to love. Liam yet to score a point off the Muzza serve. 4-1.

2.51pm: Someone's keen to get home. Murray flies into a 3-0 lead, breaking Broady's serve with ease before another hold to love. The Stockport lad struggling to keep up.

2.47pm: Murray races to the first game without dropping a point, flying start from the Scot. Earlier, Aussie whizkid Nick Kyrgios booked his place in the second round with a 6-4 6-3 6-7 6-1 over Radek Stepanek – who at 37 years and 227 days is, or at least was, the most senior man in the main draw.

2.44pm: Away we go then! Murray serves first and we're off.

2.35pm: It's the Battle of the Brits next and Liam Broady has called this 'one of the biggest days' of his life. The Stockport wildcard was knocked out by Belgium’s David Goffin last year and wants to prove he can stand up to the world No2 today. As for Murray, we'll see how teaming up with Ivan Lendl for a second time affects his game.

2.30pm: But the Swiss qualifier's resistance is over, Serena breaking to clinch a 6-2 6-4 victory.

2.25pm: Aljaz Bedene's Wimbledon is over after a 6-3 6-4 6-3 defeat to Richard Gasquet. The Frenchman proved too strong for the British hope. Elsewhere, Serena Williams has taken the first set 6-2 but Amra Sadikovic is holding on at 4-4 in the second. Andy comes up next on Centre.
