Wimbledon 2016: Sam Querrey backs up Novak Djokovic shock with crushing win over Nicolas Mahut
American smashes 23 aces to follow incredible giant-slaying with comfortable straight-sets win and reach SW19 quarters
GIANT slayer Sam Querrey raced into his first Grand Slam quarter-final by crushing Nicolas Mahut.
The American, 28, sent shockwaves around SW19 when he dumped top seed Novak Djokovic out on Saturday.
And Querrey was on song again in his last-16 tie with Mahut, serving 23 aces in his convincing 6-4 7-6 6-4 win.
The No28 seed will now be seen as a real challenger for the title and could face Roger Federer in the semi-final.
Querry was broken just in the fourth game of the match by Mahut, but hit back to take the Frenchman's serve twice and claim the first set.
The Yank then clinched the second by winning a tie-break 7-5.
And he broke Mahut in the first game of the third to go through to the last eight without really breaking sweat.
