He had beaten him in his last match at WrestleMania 20 back in 2003.
Does this mean Lesnar’s time with the WWE is heading to another end? And does this mean Goldberg, after 12 years away from the squared circle, is really back?
The 'main event' has posed more questions than it gave answers.
Team Raw men vs Team Smackdown men
Team Smackdown picked up the victory after Randy Orton confirmed his status as a fully-fledged Wyatt Family member (after a Shield reunion) - but it came at a cost for Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon who appeared to be legitimately knocked out by Roman Reigns after a spot went wrong.
There was a worrying moment when McMahon appeared to be legitimately felled after he went for coast-to-coast but was hit by a thunderous mid-air spear by Reigns.
McMahon's head appeared to connect with Reigns shoulder and he looked fully knocked out as the referee went for a pin.

Sensing McMahon was in trouble, the referee stopped the count and it was announced that McMahon was eliminated from the match. He was able to walk backstage with the help of the two officials as the Toronto crowd cheered for Shane-O-Mac.
Ever the stuntman, McMahon had earlier crashed through Braun Strowman with an spectacular elbow drop off the top turnbuckle through the announce table on the outside of the ring.
The two in the picture for Smackdown's WWE title - champ AJ Styles and challenger Dean Ambrose continued to feud throughout the match. Styles assisting Ambrose's elimination by refusing to break up the pin after Braun Strowman hit his running powerslam on Ambrose.
The'Lunatic Fringe' Ambrose then returned, teamed up with old Shield brothers - and members of Team Raw - Reigns and Rollins, and put Styles through an announce table with their trademark three-man powerbomb.
Kevin Owens and best friend Chris Jericho were both eliminated because of Jericho's massively popular list. First Owens used it to attack WWE champ AJ Styles which saw him disqualified.
Then a devastated Jericho, noticing the pages of the list were scattered all over the ring, was hit by an RKO in his distressed state. Will they still be the 'best of friends' after tonight's Raw?
The match ended when Orton took a spear from Reigns by pushing Bray Wyatt out of the way, which allowed Wyatt to then hit the Sister Abigail on Reigns. Looks like Orton is now fully part of the 'new' Wyatt Family then.
Team Raw women vs Team Smackdown women
Setting the tone for the evening, the bragging rights went to Team Raw in the women's elimination match which opened the show.
There was a change in line-up for Smackdown...as the camera cut to an injured Nikki Bella backstage who had been mysteriously attacked. The coach Natalya took her place and entered to the delight of the Toronto crowd.
In the end, Raw prevailed after the final pair of Raw Women's champ Charlotte and Bayley downed Smackdown Women's champ Becky Lynch. A Bayley-to-Belly ended the match but then Charlotte attacked Bayley with a vicious beatdown.
Charlotte first threw Bayley outside the ring and then connected with her trademark big boot. Expect these two to be feuding for the Raw Women's title for the next few months.
The Miz vs Sami Zayn (for the Intercontinental title)
Owing more of a nod to the Montreal Screwjob of Survivor Series 1997 – Smackdown’s The Miz retained his Intercontinental Title against Sami Zayn in controversial fashion.
In a match which saw The Miz constantly target Zayn’s leg to set up his Figure Four Leg lock, it ended with Zayn locking in the Figure Four on The Miz…and then the bell rang, but there was no tap.
Turns out it was The Miz’s wife Maryse who rang the bell, so while Zayn was celebrating The Miz rolled him up for the win which kept the Intercontinental title on Smackdown.
10-on-10 tag team elimination match
Enzo and Big Cass arrived first and dropped plenty of references about Toronto’s very own Drake in their rapturously received promo. However, if you are reading this…it was too late for Enzo and Cass – they were eliminated by Usos mid-way through the bout.
After a series of quickfire eliminations…and a stunning combo from American Alpha’s Chad Gable who hit Cesaro with a german suplex before teaming up with partner Jason Jordan to leap over the top rope to clear house on the outside of the ring.
Eventually it was the odd couple of Cesaro and Sheamus who won for Team Raw after Sheamus made Jimmy Uso tap after reversing the Sharpshooter following Sheamus hitting Jey Uso with a brogue kick so he couldn’t make the save.
Cesaro went to shake Sheamus’s hand after the match…but the fiery Irishman was having none of it. It was announced after the bout that they will receive a title shot against the New Day on Raw tonight…can they hold it together to win the big prize?
The Brian Kendrick vs Kalisto (for the Cruiserweight Title…and the whole Cruiserweight roster)
Just when Kalisto was picking up a head of steam…his nemesis (and Smackdown’s own) Baron Corbin emerged and attacked him so Kendrick won by disqualification and cost Smackdown the whole Cruiserweight roster for their blue-brand.
The Lone Wolf clearly has not forgotten the attack on him by the Lucha star Kalisto on Smackdown two weeks ago.
Where next then for the WWE? Or more like, who's next?
