How far can £10 get you when playing Sun Bingo’s purple bingo rooms?
LAST week, I set myself the challenge of playing Sun Bingo’s element-themed slot and slingo games with £10, to see how far my money could go.
As this is a bingo site after all, it’s only right that this week I try the bingo games.
NEW TO SUN BINGO? *
I had the same budget. I decided on the theme of ‘purple’ so I focused on purple coloured bingo rooms.
Let’s see how I got on!
The brew
I had a giant cup of Yorkshire Gold, served in the vat that is my Emma Bridgewater mug.
The biccy
I had Rich Tea Fingers. In terms of dunk-ability, they hold them own pretty well.
Plus, they do taste good. A very safe, classic choice.
The bingo
With the all-important brew and biccy sorted, time for the fun to begin.
I haven’t played much online bingo before, so I was excited to get stuck in.
- Brit 50 Bingo
- Spent 80p
I love the background, a silhouetted London skyline at dusk. This room is exclusively for 50-ball bingo games.
There are 10 numbers on your bingo card and there is a classic British theme throughout.
I played four games, three with 10p tickets and one with a 50p ticket.
There were between seven and 10 players in each of the games, with the Jackpot standing at £883.69.
It felt more like a classic bingo hall game as there is a bingo caller feature, which announces the bingo ball numbers as they’re drawn.
It’s quite useful as it helped me get used to online bingo and track the game.
HOW TO PLAY BINGO FOR FREE, NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED
Another useful tool that I discovered for doing this is Sun Bingo’s “My Bingo History” function.
Simply click on the “My Account” tab on the site, the “History” subtab and then “My Bingo History”.
I could pick a bingo room to focus on, what time I played the games, and click “Submit”.
The feature outlined each of the games that I had played, my bet amounts, how much I won and the outcome (i.e. whether I won or lost).
- Mystic Meg
- Spent £5
My next room was the iconic Mystic Meg. I played in the “£20 Mystic Meg Bingo!” session.
The higher the ticket price that I paid, the higher my prize pot would be.
I played a few games at £1 per ticket. This meant my total prize would be £10, if my lucky stars were aligned.
What I liked about this room was how cool it looked. The colour purple is associated with spirituality, so it works perfectly in Mystic Meg’s bingo room.
Also, the balls are various astrological symbols, rather than numbers. I learnt this from speaking in the Mystic Meg Chat.

Community is such a big part of bingo, it felt important to give it a go! I wasn’t disappointed.
I was nervous before clicking on the chat icon (two speech bubbles on the right-hand side of the screen).
However, the host was on hand to chat and answer questions – making my first bingo session a lot more fun!
It was such a lovely atmosphere, everyone wishing each other luck and congratulating winners as the games played out.
Unfortunately, these weren’t the games for me. I came close, at one point having only 1TG.
- Candy Room
- Spent £1.20
Slight confession – this isn’t a purple room. In my defence, I saw the candy jar icon and thought it having a purple décor was a safe bet (pun always intended).
However, the game background is in fact Sun Bingo red. This room looked fun and had the most chat members when I was playing, so I stuck around.
I played two 90-ball games. There were over 90 players in my games and the Jackpot was £1699.63.
DUO BINGO GAMES INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING A PRIZE
While I didn’t win in the games, I loved the Candy chatroom. The host was amazing at engaging with all the roomies and there was a great rapport between them and the roomies, as well as the roomies with each other.
It felt like a strong friendship clique, I was a little worried that it would be like being the new kid at school and starting half way through term.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
In classic British fashion, we were talking about the weather in no time.
The recent stormy weather being the main focus. People were reassuring each other and offering advice on how to stay safe.
- Spirit Twister Bingo
- Spent £3
The starry background over what looks like darkened mountains is a colour gradient, settling and focusing on the colour of the multiplier for that game.
This room is all about the 75-ball games. 100 tickets cost £1, so I played three games with 100 tickets in each.
This session allowed a maximum of 10 players. While I played, I explored the different chatrooms.
There were just under 400 roomies in Small Talk, so this seemed like the place to be.
As soon as I announced that I was new, I was warmly welcomed, encouraged and brought into the fold of this “happy, sunny family” as the host described it.
THESE HIDDEN SWEET GEMS ARE WAITING FOR YOU
They’re a self-confessed nutty community, with the chat room described as the “madhouse”.
It was a lovely atmosphere to be a part of while I played. I found out that some players have been a part of the Sun Bingo community for over 10 years!
I’d recommend reading the “Chat Lingo” page under the “Community” tab, as the roomies love an acronym and I didn’t know some of the common chat terms.
I also had a great game of bingo and got a full house! I put £6.50 into my winnings pot.
How much could you win?
What I loved most about this session was starting to feel a part of the bingo clan.
It’s amazing to think that there’s almost always other players online who want to chat and be friendly.
The pandemic has been very isolating for some, so it’s lovely to think that should I want to talk or just check in with like-minded bingo buds, they are only a click away.
I do have £6.50 from my win. So, in honour of my purple theme, I reckon I’ll buy:
- A 100ml pitcher of Purple Rain from my local Spoons for £6.20.
How was your latest bingo session? We’d love to hear how you got on!
Join me next week as I take on Fab Bingo's slots and slingos to see how far my money can get me.
