Samsung vows to trump Apple iPad with world’s FIRST 5G tablet – and it’s coming in weeks
SAMSUNG has confirmed that it will be bringing out a 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S6 in a few months time.
Lots of rumours have been circulating about the tablet, which is expected to be the first in the world to offer super fast 5G connectivity.
The official confirmation came in the form of a .
However, it appears the plan to release the tablet in the first quarter of 2020 only applies in South Korea.
The blog states: "The Galaxy Tab S6 5G, which will be available in Korea in the first quarter of 2020, will be the world’s first 5G tablet bringing ultra-fast speeds together with the power and performance of the Galaxy Tab series."
South Korea is Samsung's home market so it may just be trialling the popularity of the device there first.
As well as no confirmation on whether it will be available in other countries, we also don't know how much it will cost.
The existing Galaxy Tab S6 retailed at £619 at its launch so a 5G version may cost more.
It's expected to feature similar specs to the current S6 including a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display.
With the annual CES tech event happening next week it's likely we'll hear more about the device them.
Samsung wrote on its blog: "In the year ahead, Samsung will continue to lead the market in 5G innovation by introducing new advancements that will improve the speed, performance and security of Galaxy 5G devices even further.
"In 2020, these advancements will give even more people access to new mobile experiences that change the way they watch and interact with movies, TV and sports, play games and talk with friends and family."
