Underpants ‘banana’ gadget lets passengers fart on flights and filters out the smell
PLANE passengers can now pass wind without causing a stink — thanks to a banana-shaped gadget in their pants.
The foam insert is worn between the buttocks.
It is said to filter out fart smells and has been hailed as a “game changer for air travel”.
The product is the brainchild of Paul O’Leary, a kitchen designer by trade.
He reckons he has come up trumps with The Shreddies Carbonana.
He was moved to act after what he described as his own “slightly uncomfortable experience” on a flight to New York.
Paul owns Loughborough-based Shreddies Ltd, whose managing director Richard Woolley, said: “The Carbonana will improve passenger comfort for all on board.”
The £19 product is lined with activated carbon cloth, covered in a jersey fabric and is able to be washed and re-used.

During research, the company consulted gastroenterologist Niket Sonpal, who told them plane cabins become pressurised from 6,000-8,000ft which causes swelling of the gases in the body and in turn causes excess flatulence.
He said: “Air expands at higher altitudes, gas in our intestines expands too, up to 30 per cent more than usual, and that air needs to go somewhere.”
Shreddies has developed a range of flatulence- filtering products including underwear, pyjamas and jeans.
