Facebook lets you binge hilarious clips with pals live online – how to do it
WITH more people having to spend time indoors, Facebook Watch Party could be an option for you to still 'hangout' with your friends.
The feature enables users to watch Facebook videos together simultaneously so they can react and comment in real-time.
Facebook Watch Party became available across the globe in 2018.
You can create a Facebook Watch Party from your News Feed or timeline, a group you're in or any video you're watching.
They can also be created on a page if you're the administrator.
If you're ready to get started follow the steps below.
Creating Facebook Watch Party for News Feed
First you'll need to go to your News Feed and the "Create Post" section.
Click on the three dots to find more options for the post and select the "Watch Party" option.
Then you can select a category or click "Add Video" to search for a video.
You can queue up videos for your Watch Party by clicking "Add to Queue".
Then you can choose a description for your Party and click post.
You'll see a message saying “Your Watch Party Is About To Begin” and then you'll be able to start adding friends to watch with you.
Facebook Watch Party for Groups
Go to your News Feed and click "Groups" in the menu.
Once you've selected your group of choice you need to click on "Write Post" at the top of the group.
Then select "Watch Party" and "Add Video" or select a category.
Queue up videos for your Watch Party by clicking "Add to Queue".
Type the name of the friends in the group you want to add to the "Watch Party" and click "Invite".
These users will then receive a notification to say they've been invited.
When people join, their profile picture appears at the bottom left corner of your screen.
Facebook Watch Party for Pages
Again, you'll need to go to your News Feed but this time select "Pages" from the menu to the left.
Select your Page of choice and then click "Create Post" and "Watch Party".
Click "Add Video" or select a category and then queue up videos for your Watch Party by clicking "Add to Queue".
Once you've chosen a description for your Party you can click Post.
To add people to your Watch Party, search for their name and click "Invite".
You should see their profile picture at the bottom of the screen when they join.
Facebook Watch Party for Videos
If you want to start a Watch Party from a video you're watching, you need to click "Share" at the bottom of the video.
Then click "Start a Watch Party".
You can add other videos by clicking "Add Video" at the bottom right.
In this section you can search for any extra videos you want to add.
Add these to a queue by selecting "Add to Queue".
Choose a description for your Watch Party and then click "Post".
You'll see a message saying “Your Watch Party Is About To Begin” and then you'll be able to start adding friends to watch with you.
What to do in a Watch Party
Once in a Watch Party you can start live commentary.
You can click "Write something..." to chat with your friends about what you're seeing.
GIFs, emojis, photos or videos can also be added to the comments.
To end the Party just click "End Watch Party" in the corner.
A recap will then be saved on your timeline.
Any comments made during the Watch Party will be visible.
What info does Facebook hold on you?
- All the data on your profile - name, age, marital status, where you went to work, and so on.
- Your activity on the site - which posts you like, pages followed, photos shared.
- Its tracker cookies (which most websites use) can even follow you around the internet, so Facebook can also get an idea of the types of websites you like to visit – to serve you more relevant advertisements.
