Kim Kardashian to host podcast on wrongful convictions in exclusive deal with Spotify
KIM Kardashian West has entered an exclusive deal with Spotify to produce and host a new podcast.
It will reportedly focus on wrongful convictions and the criminal justice system, similar to work Kim has done before.
Although no official figure has been revealed regarding how much the deal is worth, huge sums of money have been speculated.
Tech analyst Paolo Pescatore of PP Foresight told us: "This won't be cheap as Spotify wants to be more than a platform for music.
"Spotify is placing a big bet on podcasts as part of its grandeur plans to be the largest global audio network.
"Though financials of the deal are not disclosed, Spotify has spent hundreds of millions of dollars acquiring podcast companies and exclusive content.
"That gives you a nature of its intent and potential size of this latest tie-up."
The Kardashian West deal follows a landmark contract that Spotify made with Joe Rogan.
The firm reportedly made a deal worth around $100million (£88million) so The Joe Rogan Experience podcast would move to the platform.
However, it's not likely that the Kardashian deal will be as lucrative because Rogan was migrating a very popular podcast to the platform whereas Kim's is brand new.
Spotify hasn't commented on the specifics of the deal but reports state TV producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi will produce the series.
The series could be a huge hit as some of the biggest podcasts over the past decade have focussed on criminal justice.
Kim Kardashian West is studying to become a lawyer and already has a justice reform TV show.
She previously hinted that she might be starting her own podcast after fans raved over the show.
