Google is bringing out a feature to help Android users who have this problem and it's aptly named 'Heads Up'.
The feature is currently being tested on the beta version of the Google Digital Wellbeing app.
You can also use this app to keep track of your smartphone use and make sure you're not using it too much.
The Heads Up feature will work by sending you a notification if it can sense you walking with your smartphone unlocked.
It will warn users to be aware of their surroundings.
