First you need to find an SSD.

You can buy the small drives online but make sure you search for the "M2 SSD" version.

recommends the SN850 from WD_Black or the Seagate FireCuda 530.

You'll also need to sign up to as the SSD expansion trick isn't avaliable for all users yet.

Once you've done that or updated to the latest software then you can proceed.

Turn off your PS5 and make sure it's unplugged.

Place your PS5 somewhere soft, like on a carpet floor, and face the disc drive side upwards.

Then gently lever off the white casing.

Be careful not to pull too hard or you could snap your PS5 cover.

Once off, you should see the long rectangle SSD card slot covered by a metal plate.

Unscrew the small rectangle using a screwdriver.

Click your SSD into place and secure the metal plate once more.

Once secure, put everything back together and plug your PS5 back in before turning it on.

If all has gone to plan, your TV should display a formatting screen to set your drive up.

This just takes a few clicks and then you're all set to enjoy the extra storage.

Sony has a on the SSD trick full of extra details if you get confused.
