How do I get PlayStation Plus?
THE competition between PlayStation and Xbox is set to heat up with the arrival of Sony's brand new subscription service.
PlayStation Plus gives gamers access to hundreds of titles, taking on Microsoft's mighty Xbox Game Pass.
After launching in Asia, the US launch is now imminent, with the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand set to follow very soon.
How do I get PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation Plus is available in three different packages, with up to 700 new and classic games.
The tiers start with PlayStation Plus Essential, followed by PlayStation Plus Extra, and the biggest of the bunch PlayStation Plus Premium.
Gamers who go for the most expensive option will find dozens of retro games available for play.
The new service merges the previous PS Plus platform with the old PS Now one.
Those who had a PS Now memberships will be moved to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus at no extra cost.
Users can sign up for PlayStation Plus on the PlayStation or directly from their console.
What do the different tiers include?
PlayStation Plus Premium comes with over 700 games for streaming or download, also available to stream via PC.
Sony says it will continuously change the game library.
PS3 games will be available for streaming only, while PS1, PS2, and PSP games will come with both download and streaming options.
The Premium tier comes in at $17.99 / £13.49 per month or $119.99 / £99.99 per year.
PlayStation Plus Essential is basically the original PS Plus, with no price changes and two monthly downloadable games.
The Extra tier includes everything from Essential and around 400 PS4 and PS5 games available for download.
PlayStation Plus Extra will cost $14.99 / £10.99 per month or $99.99 / £83.99 per year.
When does the new PlayStation Plus launch?
The new subscription service began rolling out from May 2022.
Asia was first, with the exception of Japan, which followed a week later in early June.
Now, Sony is ready to unleash the new PlayStation Plus on North America, as planned for June 13.
Finally, Europe, Australia, New Zealand is targeted for a week later on June 22.
