Facial recognition and photo editing technology have been for people with darker skin tones - Google says Real Tone filters will punch up photos in various lighting scenarios for any and all people.
Google executive Marian Croak mentioned Real Tone in a 2021 on building racially inclusive technology using machine learning.
"We’re doing everything we can to make AI work well for all people," Croak wrote.
Real Tone systems would help "Google Photos more accurately and beautifully represent a diverse range of skin tones."
"We’re committed to building a more equitable experience across all of our camera and image products," Google wrote in a company .
Using Google Photos comes at no cost, but saved photos count against the that come with every Google Account.
