iPhone owners are just realising Apple secretly changed an important setting – and people aren’t impressed
APPLE has quietly introduced a brand new battery feature to iPhone and some users are not happy about it.
The Clean Energy Charging mode was added as part of iOS 16.1 to be more eco friendly.
It does this by "selectively charging when lower carbon-emission electricity is available".
So when you go to charge your iPhone, it'll use a forecast of the carbon emissions in your local energy grid and uses it to charge your iPhone during times of cleaner energy production.
It's only available in the US for the moment.
But many aren't pleased that it was added in the new update and switched on automatically.

Some have even claimed it slows down charging.
But reports this isn't true.
Apple's own website says a notification will appear whenever charging is paused because of the feature.
It'll say when your iPhone will be fully charged up.
Touch and hold the notification to override it and charge now.
Of course, users can switch the feature off too.
Go to the Settings and find Battery.
Select Battery Health and Charging.
Turn Clean Energy Charging off.
