CHATGPT has crashed for users across the world due to a mysterious “major outage.”

Thousands of users have reported problems accessing the popular AI-generation site.

According to an OpenAI service page, the outage is due to ”degraded performance on ChatGPT.”

Both the app and website have been affected by the outage, according to users.

“Some users are experiencing issues loading conversation history and creating new conversations,” the company wrote.

The platform experienced another ”major outage” on Tuesday.

Many complained that they simply could not log onto the platform.

"When OpenAI’s ChatGPT goes down, global ‘creativity’ goes down with it,” one user joked on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“ChatGPT being down as school starts is not surprising,” another remarked.

But others haven’t found the outage so funny.

“Having ChatGPT go down just as I’m about to do a presentation to 50 businesses about ChatGPT is soul destroying @OpenAI,” a third user tweeted.

The service picked up a huge uptick in reports from 3pm UK time on August 31.

Tuesday’s outage also occurred around 3pm BST.

ChatGPT is a language model that can respond to prompts, helping its users create content.
