You’re using your Sky TV box WRONG – there’s a much easier way to clear loads of space instantly
IT’S easy to get carried away when it comes to recording shows and movies on your Sky Q telly – particularly when you’re deep into a series.
But you might find that your recording habits are sucking your storage dry.
You can find all your recordings by pressing Sky on your Sky Q remote, or by pressing Home then scrolling to Recordings.
When you record a show, a series link will be automatically added to record all future episodes and seasons, as well as any related spin-off shows.
But this is often how recordings “easily get out of control with Series Link on Q,” Sky wrote in a recent Twitter post.
Entire series’ can take up a huge amount of space, with 11 episodes of The Apprentice consuming nearly 28 gigabytes of storage.
Luckily, there’s a way to manage it.
Simply go to Recordings > Manage > Disk Space.
You’ll see everything grouped by show and will be able to delete whole series with “one click of the remote,” according to Sky.
What if I make a mistake?
If you were a bit eager with the delete button and feeling a pang of regret, don’t worry.
You can retrieve your deleted recordings.
Just open Manage > Deleted > select Undelete.
You can also free up more space on your Sky Q box by permanently deleting programmes from here.
Any other tips?
You can also turn the series link feature off, to avoid being tempted by any more recordings.
All you need to do is highlight the programme in your TV Guide and press Record, or remove it from the Scheduled tab of the Recordings section.
