GTA 6 fans outraged over missing trailer – here’s what happened and when we expect it

FANS of Grand Theft Auto have been eagerly awaiting more news on the upcoming entry to the series.

First revealed back in February 2022, we still hadn’t seen even as much as a teaser trailer.

Rumours started swirling that the first trailer would be released on October 26, 2023, but this has passed with no trailer in sight.

Why did fans think a GTA 6 trailer was coming October 26?

Rumours about the GTA 6 trailer started when a user posted to the video games board on 4chan saying they were a Rockstar employee.

Claiming to be a Rockstar employee, they listed a number of things we could expect to see in the trailer, as well as the launch date of October 26.

4chan is an anonymous message board, where anyone can post without a username, making it difficult to link the posts back to a specific person.

While there have been genuine leaks discovered on 4chan, every post seen on the site should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

This thread was posted to Reddit and a number of other social media sites, and people began confirming that they had also heard the rumours.

There were users saying that they also knew people at Rockstar, including the infamous Reddit post from a guy who said his wife works at Rockstar who ‘described’ the upcoming trailer.

These types of rumours are common, but they fall into the category of playground whispers from a kid whose ‘uncle works at Nintendo’.

Essentially, if you read an anonymous post from someone claiming to know someone at a major studio, it’s probably made up.

When will we see a trailer for GTA 6?

GTA 6 is several years in development at this point, so it is likely a trailer will be coming soon.

Rockstar will likely want the trailer to be a surprise, in order to attract the most attention.

Many trailers are revealed at The Game Awards, gaming’s biggest award show.

This year it will take place on December 7, 2023, and a trailer could be revealed here.

However, if they want to create the biggest impact, they may release it separately, just before the award show.
