SWITCH UP

Eagle-eyed Nintendo fans have spotted how powerful the Switch 2 will be – and it’s better than we thought

The Switch 2 seems to be a bigger upgrade than we were expecting.

RUMOURS have surrounded the expected release of the console to succeed the Nintendo Switch.

While the Switch has been Nintendo’s most popular ever console, it is almost seven years old at this point.

This is a long life cycle for a console, and people are expecting an upgrade to come soon.

All signs point to a late 2024 release, though officially no successor has been announced.

Still, it seems like Nintendo is preparing for some sort of announcement, as it is releasing a number of bundles including current Switch models.

This is likely to give the Switch a boost towards the lifecycle and help to clear out the older Switch models.

More in Nintendo

However, little is known about the Switch successor, although some developers were reportedly invited to try it out at Gamescom this year.

A report by claims that the processor inside of the upcoming Switch console has now been revealed.

Nvidia’s T234 processor is reported to be at the heart of the Switch 2, and would be a significant upgrade over the current Switch models.

For those who don’t understand all of the technical mumbo jumbo, the new chips come with a number of improvements.

The File Decompression Engine that is included in the new processor means that load times should be significantly shorter.

While previous reports suggested that the Switch 2 would be comparable in power to the Xbox One or PS4, it seems this was wrong.

The T234 contains more power than the PS4, and it’s likely the Switch 2 will provide better performance than the last-gen console.

Nintendo consoles are usually carried by their excellent first-party games, so it’s not unusual that the power wouldn’t match up to the current gen.

However, the new report has people excited for what could be a very special console.
