This is the case for the incredible Portal series that only had two entries.

The original Portal game was a PC exclusive and received an incredible 90 rating on review aggregate site Metacritic.

A long-awaited sequel, Portal 2, released four years later and blew fans away all over again.

It improved on every part of the original, with more interesting puzzles, and a longer, more comprehensive story.

Fans and critics alike loved the sequel as it’s rated as one of the greatest games of all time with a massive 95 rating.

People wanted more from the Portal series, but developer Valve has since focused its efforts on the online storefront Steam.

As Valve very rarely releases video games anymore, players have given up hope on a new game in the Portal series.

That’s where fans have stepped in, modifying the original games to come up with something new.

One of the more recent fan-made projects, called Portal: Revolution, works to bridge the gap between the original Portal and Portal 2.

It has taken the internet by storm, with hugely positive reviews, and is free for anyone who owns Portal 2.

Portal 2 is also currently on sale on Steam, so if you don’t already own it you can pick it up for just 85p.

Portal: Revolution has been developed by Second Face Software, and adds eight hours of Portal gameplay over 40 puzzles.

About the new game, one player wrote: “You know that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic eats the rat’s dish and has a flashback to a fond childhood memory because the dish was that good?

“This is what it felt like playing this mod.”

People have widely praised the quality of the new release, saying it is on par with what they would expect from Portal 3.
