FaZe Clan miss out on a huge win at one of the world’s biggest tournaments

IEM Katowice 2024 is one of the biggest events for Counter-Strike and StarCraft 2.
It was sold out in a matter of hours, as fans were eager to secure a spot on this legendary venue, Spodek Arena, which has risen as a symbol in CS culture.

With over 4500 employees running the three-day event, the size of the show is as big as it gets when it comes to esports.
The playoffs of the CS2 tournament started with a battle between the last two winners, G2 vs FaZe Clan.
FaZe dominated throughout both maps and secured their spot in the semi-finals where they faced German powerhouse MOUZ.
However, MOUZ didn’t show their true strength and ultimately lost to FaZe.

On the other side of the bracket, the first game between ENCE and Team Falcons will go down as the loudest and most emotional match from the last few years.
ENCE consists of four Polish players and the audience in Katowice made it obvious who they favoured.
For the first time in our lives we saw a whole sector of the stands jump up and down while shouting for their team similar to the hype in a football stadium.
The match was the tightest yet, and ended with the last possible round going to Team Falcons.

However, the semis weren’t as successful for Team Falcons, as Russian powerhouse Team Spirit demolished them to secure a spot in the finals.
Team Spirit continued showing how strong they are into the finals where they crushed FaZe Clan.
In particular, Russian prodigy Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets won the MVP of the event with an all-time best positive record of 1.70.
As for StarCraft 2, Joona “Serral” Sotala won his second IEM Katowice title following his previous win in 2022.
