iPhone 8 rumours suggest gadget will scan owners’ faces with LASER BEAMS

Apple might be planning to use James Bond-style technology to peform a very useful task

APPLE is rumoured to be planning to blast its biggest fans with LASER BEAMS when they buy the next iPhone 8.

But whilst this sound scary, the James Bond-esque technology may actually allow them to open up their mobile phone using their face.

An unconfirmed Apple rumour has suggested the upcoming device will use a laser to scan users' features.

This could allow them to use their own lovely face to access the gadget, rather than having to scan a fingerprint or enter a password.

"Features appear to include some form of facial/gesture recognition supported by a new laser sensor and an infrared sensor mounted near the front-facing camera and, as expected, should also finally include wireless charging," wrote Apple analyst Timothy Arcuri,

Earlier this month, iGossips also claimed the iPhone 8 won't come with a Lightning port OR a jack for earphones.

The news is sure to infuriate Apple fans who are already smarting from Apple's decision to get rid of the headphone socket in the iPhone 7.

Removing the lightning jack would effectively make iPhone owners' accessories totally useless.

All manner of gizmos use this connector, from high end speaker systems to hard drives and converters which allow iPhone owners to plug cameras or other devices into their iPhone.

Instead of a cable, the tenth anniversary iPhone 8 will use wireless charging to juice up the batteries, Steve Rizzone, the chief executive of wireless charging company Energous strongly hinted.

Rizzone has insinuated that his company will be providing the technology for Apple's next smartphone.

He revealed that his firm has signed a "key strategic partnership" with "one of the largest consumer electronic companies in the world" in an interview with .

Rizzone added: "I cannot tell you who it is, but I can virtual guarantee that you have products from this company on your person, sitting on your desk, or at home."

If true, the move will infuriate Apple owners who have bought pricey plug adaptors to charge up their iPhone or a variety of other expensive accessories which feature lightning connectors.

Customers have already forked out a whopping £159 for a pair of AirPods because other earphones won't work with the latest iPhone 7 - although our own reviewer LOVED Apple's wireless headphones and many tech fans feel the same.

And if they lose just one of the tiny earphones they’ll have to pay £65 for a replacement.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 8 in September 2017, in keeping with its annual autumn launch of major new products.

A new operating system is on the cards for iPhone owners too, with Apple iOS 10.3 tipped to be in testing right now.
