We’ve seen Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4 and even Fallout 76 top charts in different countries, as people want to experience more of the world after they finish the show.

Developer Bethesda has caught on to the trend, and wants to thank fans for their renewed interest in the series.

To celebrate Fallout’s new success, Bethesda is giving out a free update to everyone who owns Fallout 4 no matter the console.

Originally released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Fallout 4 can be played on modern consoles through backwards compatibility but it is currently not optimised for the latest platforms.

More in Fallout

Bethesda will release a new patch to help players reach 60fps on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 and also promise an improved resolution.

For PC players there are also a number of improvements, including stability patches and widescreen modes.

For those who own a Steam Deck, Bethesda is also working on verifying Fallout 4 for the handheld console.

Further general upgrades are being added including new quests, weapons and outfits.

The free upgrade will be rolled out at the same time across all platforms and you can update your game on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

If you have auto-updates turned on, then it should update automatically, but you can choose to update manually by selecting the option on the Fallout 4 icon.
