Saddam Hussein & Margaret Thatcher appear in ominous Black Ops 6 trailer as new Call of Duty game teases Gulf War story
Can you spot the other major political figures that appear in the teaser video above?
CALL of Duty has shocked fans with a new game teaser featuring tyrant Saddam Hussein and former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The Black Ops 6 clip showed the pair, alongside other big political names around during the first Gulf War.
Gamers were in a frenzy after a thumbnail image of the teaser before its release appeared to show Hussein, former President of Iraq.
Black Ops 6 will supposedly take a more historical approach than previous entries, seemingly set during the first Gulf War which took place between 1990 and 1991.
This means that real-life situations from Hussein’s life, including Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait, could be portrayed in the game, making it one of the most recent historical events portrayed in a Call of Duty game.
Several important figures from the Gulf War are featured, giving a combined monologue about truth and lies.
Bill Clinton, who wouldn’t be President at the time the game is set, opens the teaser saying: “The truth is your whole life is a lie.”
Next we see Dick Cheney, the then US Secretary of Defense, follow up with: “You wanted peace, so we head to war. Now everybody’s just all in the shadows.”
Margaret Thatcher also appears during her premiership, saying: “Behind closed doors where we hide the world’s secrets.”
The ominous black and white trailer then transitions to then US President George Bush Sr who adds: “While we build your trust, the world falls apart around you. If you weren’t so distracted, you’d realise…”
Saddam Hussein then finishes the speech with: “Nothing is what it seems. But if it’s truth you seek, look in the dark.”
Gamers took to social media following the showcase to share reactions to the short teaser.
One user wrote: “Saddam Hussein as Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 main villain is very polarising to say the least.
“He was evil to the core and I wonder how Activision and Treyarch will tell his story.”
Another said: “Cant believe they rebooted Saddam Hussein for this short teaser.”
There will also be a longer showcase directly after the Xbox showcase premiering on June 9.
This is when we expect the release date to be announced, though we know that it will be later this year.
The trailer comes after Android and iOS users with the Xbox Game Pass app were notified that Black Ops 6 would release on Game Pass later this year.
This has since been confirmed by an official blog post from .
Hussein was captured by the American army during the Iraq War for ‘crimes against humanity’, and hanged in 2006.
