BALL BREAKINGLY GOOD

Sniper Elite 4 review: Shooting Nazis in the testicles from 200-yards, another triumph for one of Britain’s best developers

Karl Fairburne is back with a bang in a beautiful but brutal world on Rebellion's gorgeous in-house engine

YOU know you’re onto a winning title when you can shoot someone from 200-yards in the testicles and kill them.

It might not sound like a particularly nice death for the enemy, but it’s strangely satisfying from a player point of view.

Sniper Elite 4 is beautiful and stunning both graphically and in gameplay

Sniper Elite 4 is good at that.

It’s good at being satisfying, luring you into playing more and more.

My main worry with the game was the repetitive nature of killing, but I’ve spent hours slaughtering Nazis and still love it.

Every time you line up your authentic-looking sniper rival on a target, judging distance and the elements, a clean kill doesn’t get boring, even after the umpteenth time.

Slow-motion kills make for brutal kills both up close and from afar

If anything, it gets better, and is always interesting, especially with the slow-motion kill cam effect.

If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the improvement in storyline from its predecessors.

Graphically, Sniper Elite 4 is beautiful in style and substance, it looks incredible on Rebellion’s in-house engine.

You’ll have hours of fun with the co-op mode, which isn’t easy when your playing partner doesn’t stick to the stealth element and pulls an entire map of baddies…

Survival can be brutal and challenging, but highly rewarding as you go all guns blazing with pals in wave-style encounters.

All in all, Sniper Elite 4 is a triumph by one of Britain’s finest studios.
