WhatsApp alert warns app will stop working on THREE popular iPhones very soon – check yours now
WHATSAPP users have been warned that the popular messaging app will stop working on some iPhones early next year.
Apps routinely carry out important updates - and overtime it usually means they no longer work on older phones.
WhatsApp users have reported seeing an alert on their screen warning that they will need to update their iPhone to continue accessing the platform very soon.
The Meta-owned app currently supports iOS 12 and later.
But from May 5, 2025, you'll need to have iOS 15.1 or newer to keep using it.
For some devices you have the option to upgrade to the iOS 15.1 and avoid the issue now.

The problem is for older handsets that aren't compatible with this version, meaning you're locked out of WhatsApp after this date unless you buy a brand new phone.
A notification, revealed by , warns "update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp".
"WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 5 May 2025.
"Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version."
There are three iPhone models still in service that will be affected by the move, which are:
- iPhone 5S
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
