Five games that RPG fans have to play from 2024
ROLE-PLAYING games are some of the most popular in gaming, and 2024 was a fantastic year for RPG fans.
Whether you are into Western or Japanese RPGs, there were a large number of excellent games in the genre this year.

Here are our five favourite RPGs released in 2024.
5. Dragon Age: The Veilguard
BioWare took almost a decade to create Dragon Age: The Veilguard but it was worth the wait.
We loved returning to Thedas and encountering familiar faces as well as building relationships with a whole new cast of characters.

4. Dragon's Dogma 2
Another sequel we waited years for, Dragon’s Dogma 2 features the spectacular encounters we’ve been waiting for.
Aside from the fantastical fights, you can recruit other players’ characters and pawns to travel the world with.

3. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Following the classic story after Cloud and the gang leave Midgar, Rebirth tells the second part of the story of one of the best games of all time.
It expands on the story of the original with more side quests, and additional character dialogue that reveals more about them.
Rebirth also alters the story slightly so both old and new fans of the classic RPG will find something to love.

2. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring came out in 2022, but Shadow of the Erdtree is such an expansive DLC that we included it on the list.
It changes up how character-building works, putting everyone on the same playing field, and forcing you to adapt your playstyle.
If you loved Elden Ring, but wish it had given you more of a challenge, then Shadow of the Erdtree is the game for you.

1. Metaphor: ReFantazio
From many of the developers of the modern Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio takes aspects of that series and takes them to the next level.
Metaphor adds a semi open world for players to explore, giving them more freedom when it comes to how to spend their days.
