A MAJOR streaming service filled with big name TV series and movies is going absolutely free - but only for a weekend.
Apple TV+ will be available to everyone without needing to subscribe throughout this coming weekend, January 4 to January 5.
It's the first time the iPhone maker has unlocked their premium streaming service this way, aside from free trials offered with purchases.
This latest effort to lure people onto the app requires no need to sign up.
The firm started teasing something big for Apple TV+ last week with a series of cryptic social media posts titled "see for yourself" which people speculated may be a free event.
Despite scoring various awards, Apple TV+ has lagged behind in popularity compared to longer established players in entertainment, such as Netflix and Disney+.

Apple Originals including The Morning Show, Slow Horses, Lessons in Chemistry, Palm Royale, Masters of the Air and Girls State have all won Emmy Awards.
The service's market share is estimated to only stand at 0.3 per cent in the US, according to Nielsen data for June 2024.
A free event would serve as an opportunity for those who haven't tried Apple TV+ to get a taster - and encourage them to continue watching as a paying customer.
One such hit Apple will be hoping to lure people in with is sci-fi psychological thriller series Severance, which is due to release a second highly anticipated series on January 17.
