Samsung turns TVs into ‘intelligent companions’ that keep an eye on your home and even know what you’re watching

SAMSUNG is turning your TV into a super “intelligent” machine that does much more than change channels and launch apps.

The South Korean tech giant is infusing AI into its latest batch of fancy TVs with the ability to understand what you're watching - and it can even alert you about what's been going on in your home while you've been out.

Integrating with other smart home devices, the TV can provide real-time updates about your home, with features such as safety alerts and daily updates for peace of mind when you’re out.

For example, it'll reveal bad behaviour from your pets, showing them up to know good with images from Samsung's robot vacuum cleaner.

When you get home, it's all summed up on screen.

Elsewhere, Samsung has used AI to help movie lovers avoid wasting time endlessly searching for the identify of an actor or other information.

Instead, their remote will allow them to access Click to Search, which instantly brings up details about whatever is currently on screen.

So, if you see a meal you like the look of it will retrieve a recipe for you with all the ingredients - if you own a Samsung smart fridge it will even ping all the details across for ease.

For fans of international cinema there’s also a helpful Live Translate tool, handy for whenever no subtitles are available.

It comes as Samsung pushes ahead with plans to put AI at the forefront of most gadgets after launching the “era of AI” with its Galaxy S25 smartphone last year.

The firm has already announced AI for its newest fridge and freezer products.

Samsung’s fresh AI-powered screens are led by a new flagship 8K TV called the Neo QLED 8K QN990F.

Its so called “Samsung Vision AI” will be integrated into upcoming OLED and QLED models too.

Samsung revealed its big AI plan at CES 2025, a major technology show that takes place in Las Vegas every year.

“Samsung sees TVs not as one-directional devices for passive consumption but as interactive, intelligent partners that adapt to your needs,” said SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

“With Samsung Vision AI, we’re reimagining what screens can do, connecting entertainment, personalisation, and lifestyle solutions into one seamless experience to simplify your life.”

AI will also be on hand to boost picture and sound quality by analysing what you’re watching and “dynamically adjusting” them for the best experience.

As part of the push, Samsung has announced it’s worked with Microsoft to add Copilot AI tech.

Elsewhere, Samsung has updated its posh Frame range which features an elegant painting-like frame and shows art on the screen when not in use.

The Frame Pro is the latest addition, with brighter colours, sharper contrasts and improved local dimming for deeper blacks, Samsung says.
