NETFLIX is hiding plenty of handy secrets that you've probably missed – including a secret membership club.

If you're a Netflix obsessive, there are four lesser-known features that you'll definitely want to know about.

HIDDEN PROFILES

Netflix profiles are a great way to make sure you and your family don't ruin each other's recommendations.

But you might find that people sneak onto your profile and ruin it.

Or you might find that you don't want other people knowing what you've been watching – especially if you've rushed ahead on a show.

Thankfully there's an easy to way to lock your profile so other people can't access it.

You can add a profile PIN that hides the content of your profile, so only you can log onto it.

Just open up the Netflix app and go into Menu > Manage Profiles.

Then choose the profile you want to edit, select the Profile Lock option, and then Create A Profile Lock.

You'll be able to enter four numbers to make a Profile Lock PIN.

Save it and your profile will be protected – unless you decide to delete the Profile Lock in the future.

REQUEST IT!

Another little-known trick is filling out the Netflix request form.

It lets you ask (and potentially even beg) for Netflix to add TV shows or movies.

You only get to pick three, so choose wisely.

Once you've sent it, Netflix will consider your request and decide to add it or not.

"If you've already submitted a request, you can sit back and relax – we've received your feedback," Netflix said.

"We can't respond to individual requests, but you can keep up on new titles coming to Netflix by following us on social media and signing up for our 'Now on Netflix' emails."

Sadly your request doesn't mean you'll get what you want.

Even Netflix admits that it might be blocked from showing certain things.

Netflix explains: "Netflix licenses TV shows and movies from studios around the world.

"Though we strive to keep the titles you want to watch, some titles do leave Netflix because of licensing agreements."

Your best bet would be to ask for something that was previously on Netflix – or a bit of old content that might be cheap to snap up.

Or you could even suggest spin-off ideas based on existing Netflix Originals.

VIP NETFLIX CLUB

One of Netflix's best-kept secrets is the special club where fans can watch movies early.

It's called the Netflix Preview Club and it's open to regular viewers – but getting VIP status isn't easy.

As a member, you'll get to see TV shows and movies before they're released to the general public.

You'll be quizzed on what you've watched, and then the creators might even take your advice and make changes.

"Each screening involves watching a movie or an episode of a TV show, followed by a 10 to 20-minute survey," Netflix said.

NETFLIX CLUB INSIDERS REVEAL WHAT IT'S LIKE

Here are some comments from Reddit users in 2024 who say they received the special invitation..

Secret Member #1

"I did this last year. Watched about seven movies. Including some amazing ones that were not released yet, and some Oscar nominees. Also was invited to a small focus group to discuss the films. Pretty cool stuff. Some of the movies come out and it's funny that I have watched over a year ago."

Secret Member #2

"I was invited last year. I was sent a total of three movies, but I haven't received anything in almost a year. The last movie I received was either last March or April. I'm not even sure if I'm still a part of it. When I contacted Netflix, they told me that if I was invited then I am still in it, but it doesn't seem like I am. I checked my email often, so I'm not sure. I think it's a cool concept though and I enjoyed it while I was getting things sent to me."

Secret Member #3

"I don't even remember signing up for it and got the PIN today. I probably did, but when I have no memory of this. I am on a similar one for Disney+ and you sign the NDA before you start any surveys."

Secret Member #4

"I've done it a couple times so far. It's super interesting seeing things before their final edit."

"Depending on the TV show or movie runtime, it could take anywhere from 40 minutes to about three and a half hours."

The catch is that joining the NPC is an "invite-only opportunity", and there's no way to guarantee an invitation.

You're selected based on:

  • Your viewing behaviour
  • How long you've been a member

If you do happen to get an invite, it'll come from one of the following two email addresses:

You can actually hide specific titles from your viewing history.

That means they won't show up as having been watched – and they won't be used for recommendations either.

They'll also vanish from your Continue Watching row.

Just go to Netflix on a web browser, then choose Account > Profiles > Profile > Viewing Activity.

You can hide individual episodes or even entire series.

Just be warned that it can take up to 24 hours for a hidden title to vanish across all of your devices.
