Hacking rumours
Spotify has been down for over two hours.
This has prompted some users to speculate that the streaming platform has been hacked.
One person wrote: "Hard to believe this “outage” isn’t caused by some kind of hack on larger infrastructure."
Another user said: "Spotify got hacked from China and are stealing USA citizens identity. They will use data collected to hack more, sell info on the dark web, and user data collected to form clones."
A third person said: "Say what you will, but Russia has some seriously talented hackers."
Second outage in a week
Just a week ago, over 8,000 users reported having issues with Spotify.
The app also went down in March with more than 4,000 customers experiencing problems with the app.
However, today is the biggest Spotify outage in recent times as over 40,000 users were logged off in US and over 20,000 in the UK.
Customers demand financial compensation
Some customers have demanded to be reimbursed for the lost streaming time while the app is out.
One person said: "I am going to require financial compensation."
Another one added: "U should give us all Spotify premium for the inconvenience."
A third user wrote: "Give us spotify Premium for 2 weeks bc of the problem."
Users threaten to leave the platform
Fuming fans have threatened Spotify to cancel their subscription.
One person said: "Yall got 20 mins until I become an Apple Music user."
Another one added: "I'm this close to going back to the 90s, installing winamp and torrenting a bunch of mp3s.
"Don't make me do it. this is your final warning."
A third person wrote: "So embarrassing should we switch to apple music?"
Users cut off from entertainment
Spotify outage comes at the same time as BBC iPlayer viewers reported problems with accessing shows.
Some users have been left without any forms of entertainment as both music streaming and video platforms went down.
