SEEING RED

Red Dead Redemption 2 release date announced… but it’s not good news for shoot ’em up fans

GAMING fans will be gutted to learn they will have to wait an entire YEAR for hotly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar Games confirmed the outlaw epic’s sequel will be available in “Spring 2018” on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Rockstar revealed some new scenes from Red Dead Redemption 2 to soften the blow

The shoot ’em up, which is set in the unforgiving American heartland, was widely rumoured to be coming out later this year.

Fans were teased with a leaked trailer last year, prompting speculation that a launch was imminent.

But it’s a case of good things coming to those who wait, in Rockstar’s case.

It’s going to be the developer’s first ever game created for the latest generation of console hardware, so Rockstar wants to take as much time as necessary to get it spot on.

It appears Red Dead Redemption 2 will go back to its roots in the American heartland if these new pictures are anything to go by

A Rockstar spokesman said: “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready.

“We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.”

It released a selection of screenshots from the game ahead of time to soften the blow.

Rockstar might have decided to push back the release following BioWare’s teething problems with Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It was forced to issue a fix after gamers complained of glitching graphics and “ugly” characters.

It suffered embarrassing lip syncing issues and players reported that lead character’s faces were freezing in hilarious facial expressions.
