Pokemon, Metroid, Super Mario, Kirby for SWITCH and other Nintendo E3 2017 highlights

IT’S the announcement every Switch owner was hoping for.

A role-play Pokemon game for the brand new console.

Nintendo did not disappoint during its E3 presentation which took place this evening.

While there was no details on the look and feel, launch date or price, they revealed that Game Freak was currently beavering away getting Pikachu spruced and Switch-ready for the future.

Fans were fuming after Nintendo revealed Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon would only be available on the 3DS during its Nintendo Direct announcement last week.

But this Pokenews will certainly have curried favour with the masses.

It also revealed the launch date for its hotly anticipated Super Mario game for the new console.

Super Mario Odyssey will be available from 27 October this year.

It features familiar faces like Bozer and Peach along with a brand new character – Cappy.

Mario’s hat has taken on a personality of its own and will help the lovable plumber make his way around several new worlds in his quest to steal Peach back from his arch rival.

But that’s not all.

Rocket League is being released onto the Nintendo Switch later this year complete with cross-platform play, it was announced today

The highly-addictive vehicle-driving football game has been a huge success since it was released on PC and PS4 in 2015.

Details about Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s DLC emerged too (that’s additional content for an already released game for any “noobs” out there).

It will be called Champion of the Ballad and featured lots of downcast character’s faces during the teaser trailer.

Due in “Holiday 2017” it can be expected around November or December this year.

The Japanese games makers are flogging “amiibo” which are figurines of each of the Divine Beats pilots: Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Urbosa.

Retro Metroid Prime 4 was also teased in a (somewhat pointless) trailer which gave absolutely nothing away.

Gamers were treated to some wispy smoke and its name – no word on release date.

The original Metroid Prime trilogy launched on the Nintendo Gamecube and Wii but the title can be traced all the way back to the first ever NES console.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kirby, Yoshi and Fire Emblen Warriors were also announced for the Switch to a great reaction on Twitter and from the millions using Twitch to stream the press conference live.

Sadly, there was no word on Animal Crossing.
