Nintendo Classic Mini N64 on the way? Games firm hints at plans to bring back ANOTHER much-loved retro console

Japanese gaming giant files trademark for a gadget which looks just like the famous old school system's controller

NINTENDO appears to be planning to unleash another reissue of a retro gaming console.

It has filed a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a gadget which looks like the controller for an N64 – which was originally released in 1996.

Nintendo has now released two shrunken versions of classic consoles: the Classic Mini SNES and the Classic Mini NES.

Both the reissues are going for big bucks on eBay, after selling out across the world.

The N64 featured pioneering 3D graphics and a joystick which allowed people to navigate the (at the time) impressively immersive environments of its games.

It launched along with Mario 64, a critically acclaimed game which brought Nintendo’s most famous character into a three dimensional world for the first time.

The console also featured The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is considered to be one of the best games ever made.

Nintendo has also filed trademarks for several other controllers, which you can see below.

Nintendo’s recent retro reissues were wildly popular and quickly sold out.

It’s not entirely clear whether Nintendo has stopped making the mini SNES and NES forever, or whether they will return one day.
