VIRTUAL reality is getting better by the day, and the quality of the experiences in 2018 is genuinely jaw-dropping.
The Sun had a chance to try out some of the coolest games demos for the HTC Vive VR headset at this year's Mobile World Congress. Here are our top five experiences...
This incredible football game uses trackers on shin-pads and boots to simulate footie with millimetre accuracy.
You can play a whole host of hyper-realistic drills, including passing virtual balls into VR goals.
The immersion is incredible: the game physics and body-tracking make you genuinely feel like you're kicking a real ball.
It's so impressive that several clubs – including Manchester United – are already using the technology to train players.
This game is designed to offer an authentic experience, and involves you sitting in an actual vintage hot air balloon.
It's rigged up to a motorised system that will shunt you about, so when you're soaring above the Grand Canyon, you feel like you're actually being blown around by the wind.
The tracking is so good that you can reach up to pull down the real burner controls, and you'll rise up in the game in perfect time.
You can sit down in the basket, lean over the edge, and feel all the terrifying thrills of hot air balloon travel. It's truly incredible.
Virtual Sports is a staple of the HTC Vive community these days, and it just keeps getting better.
The table tennis game has now been improved with the addition of official Vive paddle accessories, which let you play ping pong with astonishingly realistic physics.
In fact, the game is so immersive that once we finished our match (which we lost, sadly), we placed our paddle on the virtual table – only for it to crash to the floor in real life. Whoops...
Ever wanted to be a surgeon, but lacked the patience, intelligence, or hand-eye co-ordination?
Well now you can happily hack away at patients without any risk of death or injury thanks to SimforHealth, an amazing surgery simulator designed to train actual medical professionals.
We had a go at a bit of surgery and managed to complete it successfully with the help of a team-mate, who was admittedly far more skilled. In fairness, he helped create the game, so we don't feel too glum.
Loads of universities around the world are already using this technology for training purposes, and it's easy to see why.
The prospect of being able to train up doctors based anywhere in the world, from anywhere in the world, is seriously exciting.
Arizona Sunshine isn't exactly new, but it's recently been upgraded with some cool multiplayer features.
The epic zombie shoot-em-up can now be played in four-person multiplayer mode, so you can blast away the re-animated dead with your mates all in the same room.
You'll use real replica guns and will be able to see your teammates' bodies moving around in the game in perfect real-time.
It's surprisingly terrifying for a video game, and you genuinely experience fear as the flailing, brain-hungry corpses start diving at you in numbers.
But the terror is softened somewhat by the ability to dual-wield a shotgun and an Uzi simultaneously. What could be more fun?
