Amazon has started taking photos of your front door after deliveries
Ever struggled to find your package after an Amazon delivery? Delivery drivers taking parcel pics after a successful drop-off could resolve your package woes
AMAZON delivery drivers are taking photos of your front door to confirm when a package has been delivered.
The program is being "quietly rolled out" according to latest reports, and seems to have been going since as far back as August 2017.
The scheme was first revealed by USA Today, which revealed that the photos were being included in the notice of delivery that all shoppers receive when a package arrives.
It should mean that customers won't struggle to locate their packages if they've been left in a less-than-obvious place.
But it also means that Amazon – and the shopper – will have undeniable proof that a successful delivery had been made.
The Sun understands that the photo service has been active in the UK for several months, and that the images aren't exclusively of front doors – but anywhere where a package has been left.
In a statement given to The Sun, Amazon spokesperson Kristen Kish said: "Amazon Logistics Photo On Delivery provides visual delivery confirmation.
"It shows customers that their package was safely delivered and where, and it's one of many delivery innovations we're working on to improve convenience for customers."
One Amazon shopper posted how she was impressed by the new service on Twitter.
"Technology is wild. Just watched a delivery guy drop off a package via our @ring doorbell, then take a pic of the package.
"A second later, phone notification from @amazon saying my package was delivered and there's picture available for viewing lol."
Another Reddit user posted about the scheme back in August 2017, saying that his "delivery photo" showed his package left outside someone else's property.
"Has this happened to anyone else? I can see how it'd be useful in proving a package was actually delivered, but this is not my front door," the user wrote.
Amazon is constantly experimenting with new ways of improving its parcel delivery service.
Back in October, the online shopping giant launched Amazon Key, a smart security system that lets a delivery driver enter your house and drop off the package inside.

Customers can monitor the delivery using a Cloud Cam smart camera, and get notified when the package is about to be delivered.
Amazon is also developing a drone delivery system called Prime Air, which would use consumer-style remote control drones to ship packages to customers more quickly.
