8 Fortnite tips and tricks revealed by the UK’s best player
FORTNITE Battle Royale is smashing records and attracting new players at a furious pace.
Even Drake is a fan.
Read on to find out his top tips for Fortnite newbies and hardcore vets alike.
Aiming
The aim of Fortnite is to kill everyone. So, a good aim is critical.
"The best way to improve your aim is to start with a low sensitivity," said Baty.
To change your sensitivity settings, navigate to Settings in the Main Menu drop down (upper right corner).
Select the "Game" tab at the top of the Settings menu.
Then look for the "Scoped Multiplier" option under the Game tab
Adjust it lower than the average and press "Apply" at the bottom right of the screen to save changes.
Speed building
PS4 players should also tweak their controller's X and Y axis sensitivity.
"You may come under enemy fire when building, so make sure your sensitivity is higher than the average on console," said Baty.
"That way you'll be able to turn faster when building or looting and respond to enemy fire," he added.
"It should also speed up building in general."
PC players looking for the same results should modify their mouse sensitivity.
Weapon combos
Getting your weapons combo right is crucial for finishing off injured players.
"Powerful guns have bad reload," said Baty.
"I always find players are too busy reloading their main weapon to make the kill," he added.
That's when you whip out your other weapon to wipe out your foe.
Baty said his go-to is a bolt-action sniper rifle alongside a Scar assault rifle.
Hone your shooting skills with the sniper rifle
Aiming is the hardest part when you first start playing, according to Baty.
To improve, you need to use the sniper rifle... a lot.
"Get good at one-shotting people," he said. "And get used to the sniper rifle without bloom."
Avoid these areas
If you're new to Fortnite, don't go to crowded areas, advised Baty.
He name-dropped Titted Towers, and added that "only pros go there".
"It's a massacre."
Where to train
With crowded spots off-bounds, newbies should seek out quiet locales instead when dropping in.
"Stay there till your used to the aim," said the Fortnite streamer.
Once you get the hang of it, you're ready to venture out of your comfort zone.
Play zombie mode
Before Battle Royale, Fortnite launched as a co-op survival game.
Fortnite Save the World (aka zombie mode) is still kicking about and it's a good place to learn the ropes, according to Baty.
"I was used to Battle Royale because I played the zombie side," he said.
"I'd recommend it, especially for new players."
Protect your loot
"When you kill someone and they drop loot, don't just rush into grab it," said Baty.
"Build four walls around their loot first, to protect yourself from nearby players."
That way you can safely pick up the items.
