YOUTUBE is showing advertisements for hardcore pornography, The Sun has confirmed.

Dozens of viewers have blasted the video-sharing site for using normal clips to promote XXX websites.

The thumbnail image on the advertisements show naked men and women having sex.

Worse still, they clearly link out to pornographic websites – a breach of YouTube's own advertising guidelines.

The Sun confirmed that the rogue ad is appearing on the following video of a woman dancing – and saw the ad first-hand.

The offending video has been viewed more than 300,000 times.

YouTube's smutty ad is directing users to a website called BongaCams.

It's a popular porn site feature live webcam performances by men and women who undress and perform sex acts for money.

Models earn "tips" by getting their viewers hot and bothered with racy cam shows.

BongaCams is one of the largest "adult camming" websites in Europe.

But that popularity doesn't extend to Twitter – the social media site is being flooded with angry users who saw the ad.

One wrote: "I'm not entirely sure how the rules work for advertisers, but my ad was literally linked to one of those pop-up ad porn sites."

Another said: "I can't believe this is an ad on your website.

"It's a woman dancing and in the bottom left it promotes porn.

"I've been disappointed with how YouTube works recently, but this is unbelievable."

Another complained: "What the f**k. How is this a YouTube ad? There is literally PORN to the right side of my screen."

And one seemingly concerned parent said: "Wow, thanks for giving my kid a porn ad that he accidentally clicked on and didn't know what that was."

The news comes just weeks after The Sun discovered YouTube was encouraging viewers to "order steroids" with unskippable ads.

One user told us that his children were forced to watch a full 49-second video ad for steroids before being able to see a clip of kittens.

Google – which owns YouTube – admits that sometimes rogue ads do make it online before being checked by staff.

"While we make every effort to ensure that ads which may violate our policies do not run prior to review, some ads may be run on Google before our AdWords Specialists check them," the tech giant explained.

A YouTube spokesperson told The Sun that the ad had been removed.

They added: "We have clear policies against ads featuring graphic adult content.

"When we become aware of an ad that violates our policies, we immediately remove it and take appropriate action, including, and up to, suspending the responsible account."
