YouTube testing Incognito mode that will let you hide embarrassing searches
The feature will mean none of your searches or subscription channels will be saved
YOUTUBE is pinching a feature from Google Chrome that lets users keep their embarrassing searches away from prying eyes.
The video platform is filled with sexy, strange and even downright disturbing videos, including banned smut – and now it will include a feature that allows browsers to cover their tracks.
With the new Incognito mode, none of the activity from your current viewing sesh will be saved and even your channel subscriptions will be hidden, according to .
Think of it as being signed out of the app while actually being logged in.
Enabling Incognito mode will also change your account profile to the private browsing icon (a hat with spectacles underneath) from Google Chrome.
Turn it off, and you'll return to using your regular account with search and viewing history restoring to normal.
Check your account tab on the YouTube app to see if you have access to the new privacy featureFor now, it seems the feature has only been spotted on YouTube's Android app. We've asked the company to find out when it will be made public and whether it's coming to iPhone.
To see if you already have access to the trial feature, just tap your tiny profile pic at the top right of the app.
You should then see the new icon, with "turn on Incognito" next to it, under the "Switch account / Sign out" option, which have been bundled together for the purposes of the experiment.
