BT TV is adding Amazon Prime Video and Now TV to offer the UK’s widest range of set-top box content

BT TV is set to become the first major UK TV service to offer Amazon Prime Video on its set-top boxes, starting later this year.
The company said the addition of Amazon's streaming app, along with Now TV in 2019, will give its hardware the widest range of content in the UK.
Both will be joining Netflix on the BT TV set-top box.
Amazon Prime Video is the online retailer's film and TV streaming offering, which comes bundled in with an Amazon Prime subscription along with access to unlimited one-day delivery, Prime Music, free Kindle e-book loans, and even free video games.
If you're one of the Brits who pay £79 a year for Amazon Prime, you'll be able to access its entertainment offshoot on your BT TV set-top box.
The telecoms giant also announced a new companion mobile app that will allow customers to download and play content on their smartphones and tablets for the first time.
In addition, the BT TV app is set to debut on Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV and Google Chromecast.
BT-owned EE is also getting in on the action, giving customers of its mobile network access to new BT Sport app features. including the ability to cast what they're watching on their smartphone to their TV without zapping mobile data.
The news comes just weeks after Sky said it was teaming up with Amazon Prime Video rival Netflix to offer a brand new subscription pack that bundles in the streaming service.
It's still not clear how much the new bundle will cost, but Sky added that existing Netflix customers will "be able to easily migrate" their accounts to the new Sky TV bundle.

The BT TV bonuses were all but drowned out by the firm's unveiling of a new super broadband network that will merge BT, EE, and PlusNet by 2020.
The move sees BT attempting to put its house back in order just days after revealing plans to cut 13,000 jobs.
Its decision forms part of a £1.5 billion cost reduction strategy and arrived shortly after it reported revenues in the last quarter fell by three per cent to £5.97billion.
