If you're a keen YouTube watcher, you'll know that there are many frustrating things about the site.

You're constantly interrupted by ads, you can't listen to YouTube songs outside of the app, and you can't download videos to watch offline later.

That's all changing now though, with the introduction of YouTube Premium.

Launched in the UK today, YouTube Premium costs £11.99 per month and vastly improves the YouTube experience.

For a start, it removes ads from videos completely, so you can watch hilarious cat videos unmolested.

It also enables background listening, so you can close the YouTube app and carry on jamming to your favourite music playlist.

And excitingly, you can download videos to watch offline at your leisure.

Paying the fee will also give you access to YouTube Originals, a slate of TV shows and moves created by Google.

These include Cobra Kai, Impulse, F2 Finding Football and The Sidemen Show.

But that's not all: you also get a YouTube Music Premium membership bundled in, too.

YouTube Music also launched in the UK today, and is a direct rival to the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.

It's free to use, but you won't be able to listen to music in the background, and you'll have to suffer ads.

With your YouTube Music Premium subscription, you get offline playback, background listening and an ad-free experience – just like Spotify and Apple Music.

There's no free version of YouTube Premium, but you can check out a free trial of YouTube Music Premium .

YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium launched in the USA earlier this year, but it's now available in 17 countries.

This includes the UK, where users can download the YouTube Music app (or sign up to YouTube Premium) on iPhone or Android devices starting today.
