This Netflix cheat will make sure you see fewer RUBBISH films
ALWAYS seeing rubbish movie recommendations on Netflix, and want to clean up your screen? There's an easy fix.
It's all to do with Netflix's algorithms, which serve you content based on what you've already watched.
The problem is that if you watch a string of terrible TV shows or movies, you can end up being recommended more bad content.
Netflix will surface content in a 'Because you watched' rail, which contains films and telly similar to watch you already watch.
So if you've watched something a bit rubbish, you'll be served shown recommendations for stuff that may be equally as terrible.
Similarly, if someone in your household regularly uses your Netflix, you might see content suited to their tastes – rather than your own.
But there's a very easy fix (and a few neat extra tricks) that can stop this from happening.
The first is to delete shows from your Viewing History – that's a log of everything you've ever seen on Netflix.
By removing something from the Viewing History, you'll no longer get 'Because you watched' recommendations based on the deleted item.
"Once you hid a title from your viewing history, it will no longer display as a title you have watched, and you cannot re-add it unless you play that title again," explains Netflix.
"Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for the hidden title to be completely removed from all of your devices.
"We do not currently offer a functionality to bulk-hide viewing activity, and titles cannot be hidden on Kids profiles."
To delete shows from your Viewing History, follow these steps:
- Sign into Netflix.com
- Choose the profile you're trying to edit the history of
- Click on the Account option
- Go to My Profile and choose Viewing Activity
- On the My Activity page, choose the delete icon next to the film or TV show you're trying to watch
Another good technique is to use Netflix's content rating system.
Once you've watched something, you'll be able to rate it positively or negatively.
This will impact the stuff you're recommended in the future – so make sure to down-vote anything you thought was a bit pants.

Finally, make sure you're using separate profiles for each person in your household.
That way, family members with different telly tastes to you won't impact your own recommendations.
