STUCK ON YOU

How to make and get your own WhatsApp stickers on Android and iOS

Ditch those boring emoji and upgrade your WhatsApp game with new Stickers

WHATSAPP has finally added Stickers – a type of cute badge that's bigger and more exciting than an emoji.

Rival apps like Facebook Messenger, Twitter and Instagram already offer sticks in some shape or form, so WhatsApp is simply playing catch-up here.

It's possible to choose from a selection of pre-created Stickers (like a cup of rainbows, or a broken heart), and even make your own.

"From emoji and camera features to Status and animated GIFs, we’re always looking to add new features that make communicating with friends and family on WhatsApp easy and fun," WhatsApp explained.

"Today, we’re excited to introduce a new way for people to express themselves with stickers.

"Whether with a smiling teacup or a crying broken heart, stickers help you share your feelings in a way that you can't always express with words."

How to find, use and create WhatsApp Stickers

To find WhatsApp Stickers, simply press the new Sticker button that'll appear in your chat.

You then simply choose the Sticker you want to share, and then press send.

You can also add new sticker packs by tapping the plus icon.

If you haven't got Stickers yet, don't panic – the update is rolling out over several weeks, so it might not appear for you immediately.

It's also possible to create your own Stickers for WhatsApp, which can then be used by other people.

All you'll need to do is manually create your own Sticker art with an image editor, and then follow the instructions .

Stickers need to have a transparent background, measure exactly 512 x 512 pixels, and have a file size smaller than 100KB.

You must also provide an icon that will be used to represent your sticker pack in the WhatsApp sticker picker or tray.

This image should be 96x96 pixels and must be less than 50 KB.

If you'd like to create your own stickers for WhatsApp, you can package them in an Android or iOS app. You can publish your sticker app like any other app to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and users who download and install your app will be able to start sending those stickers right away from within WhatsApp.

Stickers on WhatsApp must be legal, authorized and acceptable.

WhatsApp is making a number of important changes to the app in the coming weeks and months.

One controversial change is the introduction of ads to the Status stories – a bit like Snapchat.

Facebook is also working on a Dark Mode that could make it easier to text late at night.

And there's also a Vacation Mode in the works that lets you properly mute and archive chats to get some piece and quiet.
