Doom Eternal release date – trailer, gameplay footage and all the news you need to know
THE Doom Slayer is back, and this time has Hell on Earth to deal with.
Doom Eternal was first announced at E3 in 2018, properly shown off at QuakeCon last year, and is headlining this year's Bethesda E3 conference.
Doom Eternal will feature new armor, weapons and many, many more beasties to dispatch.
Id have promised twice as many types of demon as were present in the reboot, as well as plenty of new weapons and accessories with which to blow them into itty-bitty pieces.
The much-loved Super Shotgun, for instance, now comes with a meathook that latches onto enemies at range, pulling you right into their ugly faces before you turn them into a pile of gooey lumps.
What can I play it on and who is making it?
It's going to be released on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Porting specialist Panic Button are taking responsibility for the Switch iteration, with Id doing the heavy lifting on the other versions.
It's also going to come to Google Stadia in some form.
They're also developing all the multiplayer in house this time, so it should feel more integrated into the main story.
Can I see gameplay footage of Doom Eternal in action?
Yes, you can.
First revealed in an extensive on-stage demo at QuakeCon 2019, you can check out shredding demons' faces and other body parts both on Phobos and in Hell on Earth.
The gameplay shows off new weapons and enemies as well as the new environments.

That's all very nice, but when can I play it?
The Doom Eternal release date hasn't been hinted at yet, let alone confirmed.
The gameplay footage shown off at QuakeCon that you can see above definitely looks very polished and like a game that is a long way into its development cycle, but that doesn't really tell us much.
It is possible we'll see Doom Eternal in 2019, and the fact that Bethesda have made it clear it's the focus of their 2019 E3 press conference makes that now seem more likely than not.
But either way, we'll find out soon.
