iPhone 11 – Release date, UK price, specs and Apple’s new features
THE new iPhone 11 is available TODAY.
The tech giant is gracing us with three new phones and their features are nothing short of incredible. Here is what Apple cooked up for us.
When do the new models come out?
Apple is launching iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
Pre-orders opened on Apple's website at 1pm BST on September 13.
And the devices start shipping TODAY - September 20 - and people are queueing outside local Apple Stores to nab one for themselves handsets that cost right up to £1,449.
You can also order the new iPhone 11 at UK networks Vodafone, Three and EE.
What are iPhone 11's features?
Apple's new iPhone 11 Pro has the “toughest glass ever on a smartphone” on the front and back.
It's available in six colours, including green, purple and yellow.
The screen measures 6.1 inches and uses a True Tone LCD display.
It means the cheapest iPhone can now sense depth – because it has two cameras.
So you can finally use Portrait Mode on pets.
Portrait Mode is the feature that lets you snap a subject in sharp focus, while the background remains blurred.
Apple also announced that the iPhone 11 will feature a Night Mode.
It lets you take stunningly lit photos in the dark, without relying on flash.
Google Pixel phones offer a similar feature called Night Sight – so Apple rolling this out isn't a big surprise.
Video is also improved.
You can snap footage in stunning 4K quality at 60 frames per second.
And there are plenty of features, including slow-mo, time-lapse, video stabilisation and extended dynamic range.
Apple also claims it offers “the highest-quality video in a smartphone” – a bold claim, but potentially believable.
The iPhone 11 is powered by the A13 Bionic chip.
Apple says it's “the fastest CPU in a smartphone” ever – potentially beating all Android rivals to date.
What are iPhone 11 Pro's features?
Apple announced ANOTHER iPhone – the iPhone 11 Pro.
It's not a huge surprise, and was heavily rumoured.
It also comes in two versions, as expected.
The back of the phone is a single piece of machine glass.
Apple seemed particularly excited to showcase the new Midnight Green colour.
But it also comes in Space Grey, Silver and Gold.
It comes in two sizes – 5.8 inches and 6.5 inches.
The display is described as Super Retina XDR, which is a brand new type of display for the iPhone.
With iPhone 11 Pro, you get four hours more battery than the iPhone XS.
And the bigger iPhone 11 Pro Max, you get five hours over last year's iPhone XS Max.
Apple has also bundled the fast-charge 18-watt charger in the box, to speed up charging.
Probably the headline feature of the new iPhone 11 Pro is the triple-camera on the back.
There's a 12-megapixel wide camera with a f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation.
Then there's a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, with a larger f/2.0 aperture, a 52mm focal length and OIS too.
How much will the iPhones cost?
Apple's iPhone 11 will cost £729.
That's a big discount from last year's model.
The iPhone XR was the cheapest handset in 2018, and it was priced at £749.
The iPhone 11 Pro starts at £1,049.
And the iPhone 11 Pro Max is slightly more expensive at £1,149.
