Disney+ streaming app is HALF the price of Netflix – with Star Wars, Marvel and every Simpsons episode

The service will include the entire Disney motion picture library

DISNEY has just confirmed the release date and price of its new streaming service.

The Netflix rival has also revealed that original Star Wars and Marvel spin-off programmes are currently under development and will be available on the platform.

It was revealed at an event in California that Disney+ will be released in the US on 12 November.

The service will cost users $6.99 (£5.35) a month – around half the price of the Netflix 4K plan, which costs £9.99, and less than half in the US, where it costs $16.

Netflix has been testing higher pricing of £12 in the UK however, so the Disney+ service could be even better value down the line.

All 30 seasons of The Simpsons will be available to stream from the platform as Disney acquired the long running animated comedy earlier this year.

reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger said the companies main priority was reaching the core Disney fans and hinted that the "substantially cheaper" than Netflix pricing wouldn't increase until the content did.

He said: "We want to walk before we run when it comes to volume of content."

He also added: "We have to put enough on to make sense from a price-to-value relationship perspective."

Disney has not yet revealed any release date or price information for countries other than the US.
