First PS5 games revealed – all the launch titles coming to Sony’s next-gen console
Prepare for long nights in front of the telly...
SONY hasn't officially announced the "PlayStation 5", but we've already got plenty of details about the upcoming console.
This includes info about the first games we can expert to play on the PS5 when it launches – either in 2019 or 2020.
We already know that the PlayStation 5 will be seriously fast, with a supercharged AMD processor and a custom Radeon Navi graphics chip.
This graphics unit will also support ray tracing, an impressive lighting technique that will make your games look hyper-realistic.
Sony's PS4 Pro can already handle 4K game graphics so it's almost guaranteed that the PS5 will follow suit.
But what games will you actually be able to play? Here's our list of confirmed, rumoured and possible titles in alphabetical order...
All PS4 games
Before we crack on with the actual list, it's worth mentioning that the PS4 will be backwards comptible.
Sony's Mark Cerny recently confirmed to Wired that you'd be able to play all PS4 games on the PlayStation 5.
And those PS4 games will run even smoother than they do on your current console thanks to a speed boost. It should mean they load quicker, too.
Cyberpunk 2077
This long-awaited sci-fi game from the minds behind the ludicrously successful Witcher series is practically confirmed for a PS5 release.
That's because game studio CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 was capable of working on next-gen consoles.
"Next-gen hasn't been announced yet, so we can only speculate," said studio boss Adam Kicinski.
"Technology-wise, Cyberpunk is very advanced. Our technology is ready to interface with future generations.
"The game is developed in such a way that it can use very powerful future equipment."
Death Stranding
Another long-overdue title, Death Stranding is a creepy action game from Hideo Kojima – the mind behind Metal Gear.
During his interview with Wired, Cerny hinted that Death Stranding would be available on PS5, though it's not 100% confirmed.
What we do know is that Death Stranding will be available on PS4, and will be available on PS5 via backwards compatibility at the very least.
That's good news, as fans have been eagerly awaiting the game since its E3 2016 reveal.
Fifa 2020
No one has actually confirmed that Fifa 2020 even exists, never mind that it will land on PS5.
But EA puts out a new Fifa game every year, so the PS5 is guaranteed to get one.
However, this could be Fifa 2020 or Fifa 2021, depending on when the PS5 actually launches.
Grand Theft Auto 6
Like Fifa, Grand Theft Auto 6 has not been officially confirmed – but will almost certainly land on the PS5.
GTA games are often amongst the biggest of any console generation, and GTA 5 came out all the way back in 2013.
With a GTA 6 release date looming, it's looking extremely likely it'll be available on the PS5 – even if it launches on the PS4 first.
The Last of Us: Part 2
Sony hasn't cough up a release date for the highly anticipated sequel to zombie thriller The Last of Us.
But we do know that The Last of Us is a Sony franchise, which means it'll be exclusive to Sony consoles.
Given that the game will probably get top billing, it's safe to assume that this sequel will appear on the PS5 – and potentially on the PS4, to boot.
In other news, Sony's PS5 has been tipped to cost over £450.
Read our round-up of the latest rumours about the Xbox 2 and PS5.
And find out why both of these consoles could be the last you ever own.
