WWDC 2019 news – iOS 13 update for iPhone, NEW Mac computer and ‘death of iTunes’ rumoured

APPLE is cooking up some major announcements for its annual WWDC developer conference, which begins later today.

The tech titan is planning to launch a treasure trove of new features for its iPhone, iPad and Mac ranges in June – including a new Dark Mode for iOS.

What is WWDC 2019?

Nicknamed 'dub dub', WWDC is typically used by Apple to showcases loads of new tech at its flashy headquarters in California.

It stands for the Worldwide Developers Conference – an annual get-together for app makers hosted by Apple.

We're expecting to see a host of new gadgets, including a souped-up Mac Pro that costs an eye-watering £3,000.

The event begins on Monday, June 3, with the main keynote kicking off at 5.30pm UK time.

WWDC 2019 news – what to expect

According to the latest rumours, we're getting some news on the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system: iOS 13.

That'll be released in beta close to WWDC on June 3 before its released to the general masses later this year.

According to , the update will finally hand Apple fans their own Dark Mode.

Dark Mode makes your screen – you guessed it – darker so looking at it at night is easier on your eyes.

It's already available on apps like Twitter and Facebook Messenger, as well as the Mac, but Apple has yet to release an iOS version.

It describes its Mac version as a "new look that’s easy on your eyes and helps you focus on your work".

The new iOS reportedly also changes up the keyboard, letting you swipe across it to form words like some Android keyboards.

iMessage is also getting an upgrade, letting you add a profile picture and display name.

An update to Apple's Health, Mail and Reminders apps are also expected.

It's also expected that Apple will finally kill off iTunes, splitting its functions across existing apps like Apple TV and Apple Music.

And there's talk of a new pair of over-ear headphones from Apple that work wirelessly like AirPods, but will be branded as StudioPods.
