GOD OF STAR WARS

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has lightsaber battles, force powers and wall-running

THIS year's big Star Wars game has a huge single-player story mode that sees you levelling up your Jedi powers, and scything through storm troopers with a lightsaber.

Eschewing the multiplayer action or choices between the two sides of the Force, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order just pits you as a trainee Jedi against the might of the Empire as they try to exterminate you.

The first gameplay demo showed off fights on Kashyyk, the Wookie homeworld, giving off a distinctly Uncharted vibe.

Your Jedi will have access to new force powers that can slow enemies as well as their blaster fire, along with the force pushes and pulls you'd expect.

Cal, the Jedi you play as, has some more traditional tricks up his sleeve too, with parkour mechanics key to your success.

It wouldn't be Star Wars without a friendly little droid, and here you've got BD-1.

He is 'voiced' by Ben Burtt, who was responsible for R2D2 and BB8's character-defining beeps and boops.

More traditional voice work comes from Forest Whittaker, who is reprising his role as Saw Gerrera in the game.

There will be some other familiar places and locations too, even though the game is set in a time period we haven't seen before.

Epic new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game trailer gives first look at a new hero and some old enemies

The game's story takes place between the proper Star Wars films and the ill-advised prequel trilogy - the Dark Times when the Empire attempted to hunt the final Jedi to extinction, setting up the events of A New Hope.

As well as Storm Troopers to fight, the demo showed off some pretty nasty wildlife too, including some massive spiders.

It's being developed by Respawn, makers of Apex Legends and Titanfall, and is being directed by God of War veteran Stig Asmussen.
