Best new US theme park rides and rollercoasters launching in 2020 including an epic 300ft gigacoaster
TOURISTS heading to the US this year are in for a treat with new attractions and theme parks opening across the country.
We've rounded up the most exciting rides, parks and shows you should check out in 2020.
Many theme parks are launching brand new rollercoasters, including the first water coaster in Indiana and a new giga rollercoaster in Ohio.
Legoland's biggest theme park yet is also opening in New York this year, with new rides and experiences for kids.
Disney fans will be excited to hear about all of the new attractions opening in Florida and California this year.
Here are some of the best to add to your bucket list for 2020.
1. Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Disney World, Orlando
Disney World's newest ride will open on March 4 this year, and will be the first ever one dedicated to Mickey Mouse in his 92 years.
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway will be part of Hollywood Studios, with other characters including Goofy featured as well.
Passengers will enjoy a train ride, which includes an adventure with the mouse couple.
2. Avengers Campus, Disneyland California
Across the country, Disneyland's Avengers Campus will open this year as well.
Fans can go on themed attractions while also meeting some of the superheroes in the franchise.
The Avengers Headquarters as well as rides based on Dr Stranger and Black Panther are expected to be part of the attraction.
3. Legoland, New York
The largest Legoland in the world will be opening in New York this year.
Inside the park will be 50 new rides, split between seven themed areas.
Fans of the plastic toy will need to be prepared - as it is three times the size of Legoland Windsor.
4. Candymonium, Hersheypark, Pennsylvania
Hersheypark's fastest, tallest and longest rollercoaster, Candymonium, is launching this year.
The ride is based on three favourite sweets - Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and Twizzlers - and reaches speeds of up to 75mph.
It isn't the only new thing at the park. Its $150m (£122m) renovations include a Chocolatetown, with food and snack halls inside.
5. Mystic River Falls, Silver Dollar City, Missouri
The new Mystic River Falls is opening at Silver Dollar City this year, which is often voted one of the best theme parks in the world.
Guests will be dropped 45ft into the water, equivalent to eight stories, in a large raft.
The ride is part of the new themed area Riverton, which will include a Smokehouse dining establishment.
6. Orion, Kings Island, Ohio
Orion at Kings Island will be the seventh gigacoaster in the world.
To be a giga rollercoaster, the ride must have a drop of at least 300ft.
The new ride will also hit top speeds of 91mph.
7. Cheetah Chase, Holiday World and Splashin' Safari, Indiana
A record-breaking water coaster is opening this year, where passengers are pushed uphill by the force of the water.
Cheetah Chase will use a water propulsion system, as well as a dual track, so riders can "race" one another.
It is due to open on May 8.
8. Ice Breaker, SeaWorld Orlando
The new Ice Breaker ride will open in Orlando this year and will feature a 100-degree angle drop.
Kids are welcome on the ride as the height limit will be just 4ft.
It isn't the only new SeaWorld ride opening this year - a record-breaking dive coaster is opening in California as well.
9. Jersey Devil Coaster, Great Adventure, New Jersey
A 13-storey rollercoaster is coming to Six Flags in New Jersey.
The Jersey Devil Coaster is one of the few single track rollercoasters in the world, with speeds up to 58mph.
A free-fly rollercoaster is opening in Six Flags La Ronde this year too.
