EasyJet plans to resume 75 per cent of its routes by August – but less flights will be running

EASYJET plans to resume some of its flights on 75 per cent of its routes by August - offering a glimmer of hope to holidaymakers.

The airline will operate less flights than normal due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis with crew and passengers asked to wear face masks.

The airline previously said it would operate half of its 1,022 routes from next month but is now planning to ramp up its flying programme.

From August, 75 per cent of its routes will be operating - but with around 30 per cent of its normal flying capacity between July and September.

EasyJet was forced to ground its entire fleet earlier this year due to the pandemic, and is just one of the UK carriers resuming flights this summer.

Wizz Air is already operating limited flights while Ryanair and British Airways will also resume some flights in July.

Robert Carey, Chief Commercial and Planning Officer at easyJet said: "We are delighted to announce that we will be flying the majority of our route network across Europe, meaning customers can still get to their chosen destination for their summer holidays this year.

He added that demand is "starting to return" as travel restrictions are lifted.

The low-cost airline has also launched their summer sale, with £29.99 flights to Europe with dates between July 1 and October 31.

They have also announced new safety measures for passengers and crew when they take to the skies once again, including enhanced aircraft disinfection, mandatory face masks and no food service.

However, travellers should be aware official UK advice warns against all non-essential travel abroad - meaning there will be little protection if anything goes wrong for those who do decide to take to the air again.

Not only that, but anyone returning to the UK, British nationals included, will have to quarantine for two weeks starting from June 8.

Here are the full list of easyJet flights operating from June 15, which are primarily domestic routes across the UK.

In addition, flying will resume in France from Nice, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon and Lille, as well as from Geneva in Switzerland, Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona in Spain.

The airline has also already launched plans for summer holiday breaks in 2021.
