Cheap foreign holidays to book now with deals from £299pp – as travel companies see huge bookings surge

TOP travel companies have been reporting huge surges in holiday bookings abroad following the Prime Minister's lockdown announcement on Monday.

TUI, Travel Republic and Jet2 are just some of the big names who have seen spikes in sales for May 17 onwards, when foreign travel may resume.

reported an overnight spike in sales for Greece, Spain and Turkey from July onwards after the PM announcement, with bookings up 500 per cent.

has seen bookings for travel later in 2021 double in just 24 hours.

Meanwhile, and report a 1,000 per cent increase in bookings following the exit roadmap announcement, with Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey top of list.

This is in spite of the fact that Brits won't find out until April 12 if they'll be going on holiday abroad this summer - and no trips allowed until May 17 at the very earliest.

The Prime Minister announced on Monday that the government would not make any decision on foreign travel until April - and that trips abroad will definitely be no earlier than May 17.

Hotels and group holidays with no restrictions will go ahead from June 21.

Trips should be booked with caution, as both Spain and Portugal are currently seeing Covid rates surging which may delay travel to the countries, and both destinations are further behind in their vaccination programmes than the UK.
